The LitFest 2012 finished until next year…

Sunday, October 7th, 2012

The Marlborough LitFest has had another great year. Ending with the excellent poet Simon Armitage at Marlborough College’s Memorial Hall. The festival this year saw many great writers come and speak in Marlborough this year. Highlights include Sunday night’s Simon Armitage, this year’s Golding speaker – Howard Jacobson, writers Michael Frayn and Iain Banks, and the children’s authors Judith Kerr and Moira Young.

Other highlights include the excellent talks by Libanus Press and Capuchin Classics, Bella Bathurst and Susie Parr, and Chris Wakling and Stephen May. The Poetry Cafe was another great success this year with over 15 poets from around the local area, reciting their poetry whilst listeners ate cake and drank tea from the ever-popular LitFest cafe.

Another successful year, with great support from the Marlborough community as the LitFest continues to grow and grow. Next year will be the fourth year of the Marlborough LitFest, with more excellent writers and speakers from around the country, who will come to inspire and inform the community.

The Marlborough LitFest committee would like to thank Founder Sponsor ALCS Authors’ Licensing and Collecting Society, lead sponsor Brewin Dolphin and events sponsors Hiscox Insurance for their continued support as well as new 2012 sponsor, Knight Frank.
