Ruth Ware – The Death of Mrs Westaway
September 29 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm£10.00
Secrets and lies, intrigue and murder; not for nothing has Ruth Ware been compared to Agatha Christie, and she herself acknowledges a debt to the queen of crime.
After writing five young adult fantasy novels under the name Ruth Warburton, Ware then switched to psychological thrillers:
- In a Dark, Dark Wood: in this New York Times and Sunday Times bestseller, a woman attends a hen party in an isolated house, only to become a suspect in a murder;
- The Woman in Cabin 10: a journalist witnesses a body being thrown overboard while on a luxury cruise around the Norwegian fjords. Or does she?
- The Lying Game: the shared secrets of a group of four girls at a boarding school return to haunt them in later life.
And so to The Death of Mrs Westaway: Hal, a fortune- teller saddled with debts, thinks she has hit the jackpot when she receives a lawyer’s letter telling her that her grandmother has left her a substantial inheritance. The only hitch is that there has been a mistake: it’s not her grandmother…
