LitFest Goes Wild

As a literature festival set in a beautiful region of the UK, we’re celebrating the start of summer with four inspirational writers who will be speaking at The White Horse Bookshop on 3 June.

This is a new venture for LitFest, separate from the main festival weekend, and made possible by our lead sponsors, Brewin Dolphin.

Poetry Café

People enjoying the atmosphere at the Poetry Cafe

Every year we run the Poetry Café on Sunday morning as a prelude to the final day’s events and as a gentle but stimulating change of pace. This year the event will be a Two Rivers Press reading, in two halves.

The first half will be chaired by AF Harrold who is an English poet, performer and children’s author.  He has appeared at poetry and literary festivals from Brisbane to Vancouver and was the Glastonbury Festival Website’s poet-in-residence in 2008.

Peter Robinson will chair the second session. He has been awarded the Cheltenham Prize, the John Florio Prize and two Poetry Book Society recommendations. He is head of English Literature at Reading University and is Poetry Editor for Two Rivers Press.

Other poets reciting their work include: Adrian Blamires whose first collection was chosen as a national Waterstones promotion; Allison McVety – shortlisted for the Forward Best First Collection Prize and winner of the National Poetry competition in 2011; Jean Watkins whose first collection was published this year; and Claire Dyer whose debut novel, The Moment, is forthcoming from Quercus in October.
