John O’Farrell – Things Can Only Get Worse
September 30 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm£10
‘…..as the Labour candidate I prepared for every possible question on the local radio election phone-in. What I had not prepared for was my mum ringing up to say that she agreed with John O’Farrell. On everything!’
In the follow-up to his classic memoir, Things Can Only Get Better: Eighteen Miserable Years in the Life of a Labour Supporter, John O’Farrell takes us on a sometimes hilarious, sometimes heart-breaking roller-coaster ride, from the highs of the Labour victory in 1997 to the lows of Brexit. A lifelong Labour supporter, in 2013 he was selected as the Labour candidate in the Eastleigh by-election, caused by the resignation of Chris Huhne. He slightly increased Labour’s share of the vote, but finished fourth. In 2015 he announced he was not intending to stand for Parliament.
One of a small number of British writers to have achieved bestseller status with both fiction and non-fiction, his books have been translated into over twenty-five languages and been adapted for radio and television. A former comedy scriptwriter for Spitting Image and Have I Got News For You, his previous books include The Man Who Forgot His Wife, May Contain Nuts and The Best a Man Can Get.
