Dr Parker sitting in the Mayor's chairWe were saddened to learn recently of the death of Dr David Parker back in February this year.

Dr Parker, pictured here at Marlborough Town Hall, came to the LitFest last year to speak about Charles Dickens. For many years he curated the Dickens House Museum in London and he was a world renowned expert on the great author. He encouraged other writers and biographers of Dickens in their work. In particular, Claire Tomalin credited him for his encouragement when she investigated the story of Nelly Turnan’s relationship with Charles Dickens.
