A busy morning……

Today sets off in full swing with Caroline Lawrence’s children’s event in the Assembly Rooms and Mike Pitts’ historical talk in St Mary’s Church. These two sessions at opposite ends of the High Street reflect the great diversity of events and sessions that Marlborough has to offer.

From Caroline Lawrence’s session children are clamouring down the stairs into the cafe, pulling parents behind them, as they queue for signed copies of The Thieves of Ostia and into the waiting piles of cupcakes on the cafe counter. Caroline’s fun and interactive session drew an enthusiastic audience of young readers, as she listed her seven tips for a great story as well as looking at how to find an idea.

Down the road, at St Mary’s, Pitts introduced us to his book, Digging for Richard III, a forensic examination of the archaeological dig in the Leicester car park that set out to find whether the skeleton found was Richard III, and if it was, how he died.

Lunchtime sessions are about to begin, come into the Town Hall for tickets to Jenny Uglow at 12 noon, and AC Grayling at 1:30pm.
