Writing Competition for children (9-11 year olds)

Can you describe someone?

They can be real or imagined, from history or from here and now. Your granny or a Tudor tyrant, your best friend or a Greek goddess… you decide.

Caroline Lawrence writes lots of character descriptions in her famous Roman Mysteries and PK Pinkerton Mysteries series. Here is one:
‘Jonathan’s father had a sharp nose and a short grizzled beard. Two long grey ringlets of hair emerged from a black turban wound around his head. He looked very exotic and even odd, but his heavy-lidded eyes were kind.’
The Thieves of Ostia, Roman Mysteries

Describe a character in a few sentences, and see if you can win 2 tickets to see Caroline Lawrence at the Marlborough LitFest (Saturday, 27 September 2014) where she will present you with a book token. The winning entry will be put on our website and runners up displayed at the festival.
