2013 Children’s Writing Competition – Under 15s

We are pleased to announce the details of the 2013 Marlborough LitFest Children’s Writing Competition for children under 15 years old as follows:

Please write a short story or childhood memoir (it can be fictional) in no more than 1,000 words.

Some suggested themes:

-adoption

-living away from home

-friction at home

-family secrets

-not fitting in

Jackie Kay is coming to Marlborough LitFest to talk about her memoir RED DUST ROAD, which deals with issues of race, adoption and sexuality, on Sunday 29th September where the prize will be given to the winning entry. The prize is to have your writing published on the Marlborough Literature Festival website, a pair of tickets to Jackie Kay’s talk and a £10 book token.

Please send entries to: MLF Competitions, 107 High Street, Netheravon, Wiltshire, SP4 9PJ or to davina@marlboroughlitfest.org before 1 September 2013. If you are writing a non-fiction entry can you include a parent/guardian permission slip.

There is also a competition for younger writers (years 3-6).
